On January 5th, 2004, the president and founder of TMK and Associates, Inc. passed away as the result of a massive heart attack. He will be mourned and missed by his family, his friends, his colleagues, and the industry. In memory of him, his family and staff have chosen to present this summary of his life and accomplishments. Born October 8, 1940, in Ravenna, Ohio, Tom is survived by his wife Sandy, his four sons, Michael, Evan, Timothy and Cody, and by his two granddaughters India and Isabella.

It was in August 1985 that Tom made a commitment to the electrical safety industry and became a full-time Occupational Safety Instructor and Consultant. TMK and Associates was incorporated and Tom named President of the organization that now specializes in electrical safety and lockout/tagout worldwide.

His extensive knowledge of various standards, including DOD/DOE requirements and Army, Navy and Air Force safety programs, allowed him to successfully conduct various standard and customized courses on the OSHA Standards, the National Electrical Code, and NFPA 70E for the U.S. Department of Labor at the OSHA Training Institute in Chicago, IL., various State OSHA Departments, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), Bureau of Worker’s Compensation (Ohio) and numerous major private corporations such as General Motors, Aluminum Company of America (Alcoa) and BP.

Tom conducted numerous classes for the Navy Safety School, Department of Navy and Department of Army, as well as the Department of Defense and Department of Energy (DOD/DOE).

Additionally, he was involved in conducting safety surveys for major corporations and various government facilities. He has completed major audits at Sandia National Laboratories, Strategic Petroleum Reserves, numerous DOE facilities and major corporations such as Aluminum Company of America. His extensive familiarity with industrial facilities from light commercial to heavy foundry operations enabled him to conduct quick and thorough inspections. This expertise resulted in the development of several computer database applications which aid in the record keeping and reporting portions of the survey function.

Due to his expertise and years of experience, Thomas Kovacic also provided expert witness testimony both in pre-trail deposition and in court.

Thomas Kovacic spent more than 30,000 hours in the classroom during his lifetime and his superior teaching skills resulted in thousands of course evaluations rating him as an "excellent and dedicated instructor".
