Douglas A. Baxter is an electrical safety consultant for TMK and Associates, Inc., Cleveland, Ohio based organization specializing in electrical safety and lockout/tagout. Also, Mr. Baxter has a contracted agreement with the City of Akron, Ohio to do electric inspections of commercial (medical, schools, libraries, etc.) and residential, as the authority having jurisdiction. Mr. Baxter attended Youngstown State University prior to starting his career as an electrician. After completing his apprenticeship, Mr. Baxter worked as a journeyman electrician and advanced to electrical foreman, supervising several large industrial locations in Ohio and Pennsylvania. During the late 1970’s Mr. Baxter started his own electrical business contracting residential, commercial, and industrial facilities in the states of Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Indiana. Through the 1980’s while continuing his education, Mr. Baxter took the examination to be an Electrical Safety Inspector for the state of Ohio. During this period he became active with the International Association of Electrical Inspectors. Since 1992 Mr. Baxter has been the elected secretary/treasurer for the Akron Division of the International Association of Electrical Inspectors. Mr. Baxter is a Certified Electrical Inspector under the International Association of Electrical Inspectors certification program. After 25 years as an Electrical Contractor, Mr. Baxter sold his business and accepted a full time position as an electrical Inspector. In the 1990’s Mr. Baxter became known for his superior knowledge of the National Electrical Code. He started teaching electrical code classes for Kent State University, code update classes for General Motors Corp. apprentices/electricians, and apprenticeship classes for the Independent Electrical Contractors Association. Mr. Baxter is certified with the State of Ohio as an instructor for CEU’s for Ohio Electrical Safety Inspectors and licensed Ohio Electrical Contractors. Several thousand students have attended these classes. Mr. Baxter’s education, knowledge, and experience have earned him a level of accomplishment that few have achieved. With over 30 years experience as an apprentice/journeyman electrician, foreman, electrical contractor, electrical inspector, National Electrical Code instructor and now Electrical Safety Specialist. Mr. Baxter’s goal is to “REDUCE THE NUMBER OF ELECTRICAL INJURIES TO PERSONS FROM THE USE OF ELECTRICITY THROUGH EDUCATION, ENFORCEMENT, AND COMPLIANCE,” making it a safer world for everyone. |
